DESCRIPTION
God called Times Square Church to a time of prayer and fasting prior to the September 11, 2001, attacks on the World Trade Center. He was preparing them to meet the needs of people at that desperate moment. God is again calling Christians to be ready. From Wall Street to Main Street, from the inner city to distant African orphanages, the cry of desperation grows louder. With each headline, people see a dimming world and they long for a sure hope. As we move into and through these uncertain and hard days ahead, will the Church of Jesus Christ be ready to respond? Will we be equipped with the grace to help in times of need?
According to Times Square Church Senior Pastor Carter Conlon, we need a wake-up call. As followers of Christ, we need to move for a culture of excess to serving Jesus. We need to return to our first love, where we will find the direction, truth and love we need to keep us strong. As the shaking comes, we will be prepared to respond and make a real difference. When everyone else’s hands will be clinched in fear, grasping for provision and hope, our hands can be open, life-giving. If we make a 180 degree turnabout, we can be the first responders in times of need.
