DESCRIPTION

For many across the world, the books of the Apocrypha are Christian Scripture. This volume helps university and seminary students not only learn more about the Apocrypha, but also more about how Jesus thought and lived. Using a thematic approach, Dr. David deSilva gives a brief introduction and summary of these largely unknown and unappreciated books. In addition the book gives an overview to the social and cultural context of the world of the Apocrypha and early Christianity. After surveying the Apocrypha 's relevance and impact on Christian practices and spiritual formation, the book highlights the Apocrypha 's impact on Jesus, Paul, the New Testament, and the formation of the Early Church 's doctrines and theology.
