DESCRIPTION

In this insightful theological introduction, Terrance Nichols examines viewpoints on death and the afterlife both in Scripture and from numerous perspectives throughout Christian history. By examining death and the afterlife in Ancient Judaism, the Intertestamental period, the New Testament, and in the history of the church, Nichols draws careful insight on what can be known about Heaven, Hell and the concept of purgatory as discussed throughout Christian history. In addition, Nichols weighs in on current scientific challenges to the afterlife while examining some striking examples of near death experiences. Finally, Nichols surveys how the soul can survive death, while arguing in favor of a future bodily resurrection. This superbly insightful work is certain to benefit professors, pastors and students of theology, eschatology and practical theology.
