DESCRIPTION

As Christians, we don't live in a vacuum, but in a world of church, family, labor, and government. Striving to provide concrete instruction for real-life situations, Bonhoeffer envisioned a systematic code of Christocentric, incarnational principles and practices for a postwar society. Few have struggled with this topic of Ethics as much as Bonhoeffer as he had to decide which should commandment should he uphold. Is it ever right to knowingly commit sin, namely murder, even if it would mean saving thousands of lives? This newly translated edition of his original work features insightful commentary and expert annotations.

The Dietrich Bonhoeffer Works Series offers material from some of Bonhoeffer's most influential thoughts along with biographical information about his life, ministry, and imprisonment. Bonhoeffer was a man of strong convictions; this dedication to the wholeness of the Gospel cost him his life at the hand of the Nazi regime during World War II. Each volume in this series is rich with Bonhoeffer's wisdom of what it takes to follow Christ in a fallen world.
