Synopsis from Thomas Nelson:

For some, the name Charles Colson brings to mind his incarceration following the Watergate scandal, or his dramatic salvation story told in the book and film, Born Again. The Colson of the 1970s is yesterday's sound bite. What has never been told is the full, amazing story of how his newfound faith and his prison experience led him on what has been a thirty-year journey with his organization, Prison Fellowship, acting on behalf of a crumbling prison system and the broken men and women locked inside it.

This is the story of Colson's journey over three decades. From elegant Washington functions, to the seemingly hopeless cells on Death Row, God Behind Bars shows how the compassion of Colson and a few others led to a Christian discipleship program in our nation's capital that has spread a gospel of hope throughout the world. In the process, it examines the rationale behind the present explosion of new prisons and their populations, and suggests a proven methodology for real reform.
