Description:
If you want to prepare for (or are already in) the inevitable storms of life—storms of bereavement, betrayal, or broken dreams—this Bible study and the enclosed musical CD will equip you not only to survive, to cross the icy waters of grief, but to experience greater intimacy with the Lord and become a great heart. After losing her own husband to cancer, Dee Brestin wondered if her life was over. She ached for God’s comfort but felt utterly alone. Then she discovered a secret that suffering souls through the centuries have learned: she began using psalms and classic hymns to bring peace to her soul. The truths carried by these timeless songs invite you, and all the wounded, to be quiet before God, to rest like a child in the arms of a loving parent.

When Saul was troubled, he called for David on his harp. As David played and sang the psalms, evil spirits fled. Harpist Amy Shreve plays these Scriptural songs. Each of the ten lessons focuses on a classic hymn and the powerful Scriptures that inspired it, and each can soothe your soul. The wise man builds his house on the rock before the storm hits, fortifying his soul with truth now. But even if it is too late for that and the hurricane has already hit, Jesus is reaching out to you, longing for you to let Him rescue you from the swirling waters.
