DESCRIPTION
Synopsis from the publisher:
Genesis is an indispensable key to understanding the rest of the Bible. In Genesis we are introduced to God the creator who has but to speak and the worlds come into being. Every inch of the universe owes its existence to God. Genesis tells us clearly and simply who we are: creatures made in the image of God who have disobeyed God and experienced the consequences.
It shows the initiative God took in bringing human beings back into right relationship with Him. God began with one man, Abraham, and from him created a nation that would receive God’s blessing and would be a channel through which God would bless all peoples. Genesis is the first of five books Moses wrote and became the theological and spiritual foundation for Israel understanding who they were and what God expected of them as he gave them the Promised Land. It is as relevant for the 21st Century as it was in the 14th century B.C.
The Holman Old Testament Commentary is designed to equip those who teach and preach to make clear this vital part of God’s Word.
