DESCRIPTION

Steve Moyise offers an illuminating yet accessible guide to the various ways that Jesus employed Scripture, both in his teaching and in his understanding of his ministry.

After analysing the scriptural quotations and allusions in the four canonical Gospels, Moyise examines the views of a range of key scholars (Borg, Crossan, Dunn, France, Kimball, Vermes and Wright), and shows how their differing reconstructions of Jesus’ use of Scripture inform their understanding of his historical impact and significance.
