DESCRIPTION

The continuing decline of the church in Europe is nearly undeniable. While this crisis has been widely acknowledged, there have been few attempts to systematically take on this challenge. Marcel Heyndrikx boldly takes up the challenge in Towards Another Future.

Heyndrikx takes readers on a tour of this crisis among the churches of northern Europe, addressing such important questions as How did the church get to this point?, What is the nature of the decline?, and, most important, Where does the church go from here? Along the way Heyndrikx points out the central elements of the decline — Vatican I and its aftermath, the emergence of modern worldviews, and tensions between old and new conceptions of he faith.

Towards Another Future offers more than a map of the problem; it ends with reasons for hope for a brighter future for the Christian faith in the European church.
