DESCRIPTION

Foresters tell us that some trees need to die in order to free needed nutrients and space to grow for the other trees around them. Yet cutting down these trees risks damage to their neighbors. So the foresters will “ring” the unwanted trees, cutting one or two rings deep into the tree’s base, causing them to die slowly, freeing resources for the other trees without endangering them.

In the same way discerning congregational leaders will identify programs and structures that need to go away, in order to free resources for other, more important ministries. yet rather than take a chainsaw to the outmoded programs (angering people and endangering the ministries that matter), these leaders understand how to gradually shift focus away from them.

Do you want to become such a leader? Do you want to know how to bring about significant change without instituting a “slash and burn” policy? Then this book is for you!
