DESCRIPTION

Jessie Miller's life in the sleepy tourist hamlet of Chenoa Lake hasn't been the same since Max Hunter moved to town. Jessie may be fighting leukemia, but Max still finds ways to get the two girls in the middle of an adventure.

Now in the wake of the arrest of her drug-dealing guardians, it looks like Max has finally found a stable home with a kind woman from Jessie's church, Amelia Truesdale. But no sooner does Max move to Amelia's farm than weird things start happening - strange noise in the attic, slashed tires, and a dead body found near a forgotten gold mine on the property.

When Max disappears, along with a bunch of money, it's up to Jessie to prove her best friend is no thief. And together they have to get to the bottom of the trouble at Lakeside Farm - before someone else gets hurt and Max loses another home.
