DESCRIPTION
OF WOMEN'S SPIRITUAL WRITINGS.
Unique in its range and depth, this lavish anthology for the first itme captures in a single volume the most notable spiritual writings of illustrious women from all periods of Christian history. Madigan's generous selections reveal how deeply women's mystical quest for intimacy with God has also entailed personal commitment and prophetic social witness. Ranging from Perpetua in the third century to Mother teresa and Edwina Gateley in this century, Madigan's volume includes writings from both lesser and better known women and , in the modern period , from Asian, Amercan and African American women. Informative historical introductions and bibliographies augment writings of 27 Christian Visionaries.
