DESCRIPTION

In her first full-length treatment of a synoptic Gospel, the author of Not Counting Women and Children provides a roadmap for Christian discipleship. Megan McKenna opens up the text, demonstrating what it meant to Jesus' disciples and to the community that became the early church. Ever the master storyteller, McKenna also presents stories that reinforce Mark's message as she proceeds chapter by chapter through the Gospel.

The crux of the matter is, always, what Mark has to say to us today. McKenna writes, "We must walk with the companions of Jesus, with Peter, James, and John and the others, men and women like us, and let the Gospel convict us, convert us, confirm us, and call us to repentance."
