DESCRIPTION

Everyone agrees that Psalms is one of the most important books in the bible. With 150 Hebrew poems and songs of praise, it formed the worship book of ancient Israel. It is quoted and referred to by Jesus. In fact, it’s one of the Old Testament books most frequently quoted by the New Testament.

Why then, do we feel intimidated by the Psalms? Perhaps we find the sheer volume of Psalms daunting. Or we’re confused because we don’t really know the history behind the poet’s laments and praises. Certainly, the style of Hebrew poetry and conversations of its language are foreign to us. Editor Roger Campbell has removed all of these barriers in Spurgeon’s Daily Treasures in the Psalms.

Using Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s classic work, The Treasury of David, for his guide, Campbell has selected 365 brief daily readings, making the Psalm’s rich library of spiritual praise accessible. He has also updated Spurgeon’s language for contemporary readers and focused on the real issues of daily life that are addressed in the Psalms.

Both uplifting and practical, here is a book on the Psalms that will help us discover what we’ve been missing.
