DESCRIPTION
A provocative, scholarly attempt at re-creating the Jesus of history
Delving into social anthropology, Greco-Roman history and literary criticism; New Testament and Jesus scholar John Crossan attemts to break apart the so-called "myth" of the numerous layers of Christian tradition to finally enter into the world of the "real" Jesus...the man of history.
While other non-Christian scholars might assert the non-historicity of Jesus, Crossan demonstrates that Jesus is actually one of the best documented figures in ancient history.
The challenge is the complexity of the sources.
That is the journey of this book. With a surgeon's hand and a historian's intellectual dexterity for examining the sources; Crossan brings you to a conclusion about Jesus that might just shock you.
You may not agree with Crossan...but one thing is for sure. His intellectual honesty in search for truth might just persuade you.
