Text of the tract:
Superman sets out to save the people of earth. He fights for truth and justice. He rescues people when they cannot save themselves.
He is a hero.
In the movie, Superman’s father places his baby son in a rocket ship to escape the fate of their doomed planet, Krypton. Descending from the heavens, the small rocket ship lands on a farm in Smallville, Kansas, where Kal-El (Superman’s real name) is found by the Kent family. The Kents adopt Kal-El as their own, giving him the name Clark Kent. They have little idea who he really is or why he came to earth.
Clark grows up thinking he is like every-one else. He cares for people and understands the beauty of life. Eventually he finds out who he truly is. Kal-El, the last son of Krypton, was sent on a mission to rescue the people of earth. As Superman, his destiny is to save the human race from the many dangers facing them. But the people aren’t ready to trust him.
Superman becomes very confused about his mission. He must find a way to protect the people he loves. Then he remembers his father’s words: “They can be a great people, Kal-El, if they wish to be. They only lack the light to show them the way. For this reason above all…I have sent them you—my only son.”
The story of a father sending his son for a special mission is not new. God did the same thing when He sent Jesus to earth to rescue us. And much like Superman, many people didn’t know who Jesus really was or why He came.
The Bible says, “But when the right time came, God sent his Son...to buy freedom for us...so that he could adopt us as his very own children” (Galatians 4:4-5).
Jesus came because no matter how good or strong we think we are, we are all in danger and need saving. “For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard” (Romans 3:23). To sin means we all go against God’s ways of doing things.
TheBible says, “He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross” (Philippians 2:7-8).
When you believe what Jesus said about His mission and that He came to save us, God will forgive you of your sins. You will also become one of God’s children, just like Jesus. The Bible tells us, “To all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12).
Jesus is the real Super-Man. When you believe in Him, you take on His mission as your own, which is to tell people who Jesus is and why He came. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).
